Just arrived in Switzerland? simply helps you choose the right basic and supplementary insurance with KPT – simple, understandable, and personal.
The most important things about health insurance in Switzerland
After moving to Switzerland, you must take out basic insurance within three months. You are free to choose your insurer. The cover applies retroactively from the date of entry.
You can supplement your cover where basic insurance does not apply (e.g. for dentists, visual aids, alternative medicine, extra comfort in hospital). simply explains the differences and supports you in taking out insurance.
Take out your basic insurance within three months – if you join later, you risk premium surcharges and assignment by the authorities.
The premiums depend on your place of residence, your age, the deductible, and the insurance model you have chosen. You can pay monthly, semi-annually, or annually.
You pay an annual deductible (between CHF 300 and CHF 2,500), plus a 10% co-payment up to a maximum of CHF 700 and CHF 15 per day in hospital.
Supplementary insurance – your tailor-made protection
With supplementary insurance, you can extend your insurance cover to include benefits such as dental costs, extra comfort in hospital, health promotion, visual aids, check-ups, or alternative medicine.
